After giving birth, many women struggle to lose the weight they gained during pregnancy. Regular exercise and healthy eating aren’t always enough, and a lot of women decide to go for “mommy makeovers” to help get their pre-baby bodies back.
Mommy makeover is a cosmetic treatment that consists of two or more procedures that focus on the breasts and body. Each mommy makeover is tailored to the patient’s unique cosmetic needs and goals.
Below, Dr. Ary Krau talks about the procedures that can be included in a mommy makeover. He also reveals a few of the most popular mommy makeover requests.
Whenever a person quickly gains and loses a significant amount of weight, as in the case of pregnancy, loose abdominal tissue is one of the main outcomes.
A tummy tuck is a way to tighten the loose tissue and skin and repair the abdominal muscles, which may have separated during pregnancy.
Another procedure patients get to help restore their bodies to their pre-baby appearance is liposuction.
Liposuction improves the contours of the body by permanently breaking up and removing fat cells, especially from areas resistant to diet and exercise, such as the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms. Liposuction is a popular request among mothers who are bothered by small pockets of fat that are resistant to weight loss efforts.
The tissue in women’s breasts may also become loose due to pregnancy and childbirth, causing breasts to sag and look deflated. Nursing can add to this effect as well.
Getting a breast lift reshapes and repositions a patient’s breasts, providing a younger-looking appearance. Nipples that become stretched out or point downward can also be resized and repositioned on a patient’s breast mound.
Breast augmentation with silicone gel or saline implants can restore shape and fullness to breasts that have become deflated after breastfeeding. Some women get implants on their own while others choose to combine getting implants with a breast lift.
Popular mommy makeover requests include breast lift and augmentation; breast lift and tummy tuck; breast lift, augmentation, and tummy tuck; and any of these combinations plus liposuction.
It’s important to note, however, that, for best results, it’s best to wait until you are done having children and nursing before getting any type of mommy makeover treatment.
If you want to get your body back to its pre-baby appearance, a mommy makeover may be right for you.
