Plastic Surgery Miami

Get the best liposuction surgery in Miami with Dr. Ary Krau! Dr. Krau is recognized by the Miami New Times as the best plastic surgeon in the city and is one of the most in-demand surgeons around. Liposuction helps you safely and effectively remove fat, so you can look your best. Relying on his artistic eye and technical expertise, Dr. Krau will sculpt your body to give you a slimmer, sexier physique.

Though liposuction techniques and technologies have evolved significantly over the years — from traditional “dry” liposuction to laser-assisted liposuction — Dr. Krau believes that liposuction is surgeon-dependent, meaning that the key to a good result is not necessarily the technique used, but the skill of the surgeon performing the procedure.

Areas Where Liposuction Works Best

Liposuction reduces or eliminates excess subcutaneous fat (fat that resides under the skin) that is unresponsive to diet and exercise efforts. Liposuction can be used to treat the:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Inner knees
  • Calves
  • Ankles
  • Male breast area
  • Upper arms
  • Neck/underneath the chin

Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure, and is most effective on individuals who are at or near their ideal weight (i.e., within 20 pounds or so) but desire permanent changes in their body’s contours. To see some of Dr. Krau’s results, visit our liposuction before and after gallery.

Am I A Liposuction Candidate?

Liposuction candidates are evaluated on an individual basis by Dr. Krau. However, there are commonalities amongst appropriate candidates for liposuction. In general, good liposuction candidates:

  • Are in good physical and psychological health
  • Are at or slightly above their ideal body-weight
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not have any chronic, uncontrolled medical conditions that could raise the surgical risks or impair healing
  • Have specific and reasonable goals of surgery
  • Understand the risks of surgery

How Liposuction Works

Liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis using anesthesia and sedation medication for your complete comfort.

Dr. Krau will make small incisions in the treatment area. He will insert the cannula through the incisions and move it back and forth to break up the fatty tissue. Then, he removes the fat through the cannula using suction.

When Dr. Krau is finished removing the desired amount of fat, he will close the incisions and place a compression garment to help the tissues heal.

Power-Assisted Liposuction

Dr. Krau has seen the best results achieved through power-assisted liposuction, which involves a mechanical, oscillating cannula (i.e., a thin tube) that vibrates at 4,000 cycles per minute. Also, liposuction is not just about taking out fat, Dr. Krau says.

“You need to sculpt the patient — you need to know how much fat to take out, when to leave it, when not to take too much out and where to take it from.” Additionally, some procedures involve transferring the fat to another area of the body that needs natural fullness and volume.

Liposuction Recovery

As you recover from liposuction, the treated area may be sore, swollen and bruised, but these symptoms will subside with time. Dr. Krau will prescribe oral pain medication to soothe any discomfort.

It’s important to allow your body to rest, and to avoid any strenuous movement or exercise that could cause complications. Short walks promote proper circulation and prevent blood clots in the legs. You will need to wear your compression garment for about a month to keep swelling under control and help you achieve your final results more quickly.

Dr. Krau is actively involved with your follow-up care. He will check your healing progress, answer any questions and advise when you can go back to work and resume your normal routine.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?

3,374 is the average cost of lipo, according to a 2017 study performed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Costs may vary, see Dr. Krau for an exact quote.

Liposuction Risks

Any surgical procedure carries some degree of risk. The best thing to do to minimize your risks is to work with an experienced and qualified surgeon. Dr. Krau has helped countless individuals achieve their ideal appearance safely and without complication. Nonetheless, it’s important for you to be informed of the possible complications of liposuction, which he will discuss during your liposuction consultation.
