The latest statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reveal that more people are turning to plastic surgery, including men. In fact, more than 1.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2017 alone.

Top Cosmetic Surgical Procedures Among Men
Rhinoplasty, which addresses cosmetic imperfections of the nose as well as improves breathing function, is the top male surgical cosmetic procedure, with over 52,000 procedures performed on men in 2017. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) came in second with over 32,000 procedures. Facial rejuvenation procedures, like eyelid surgery, are popular among older men, particularly those who want to compete with their younger coworkers.
"Some people call it the 'executive edge' because a lot of patients report that they want to look younger to continue to compete in the workplace," said Dr. Jeffrey Janis, President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. "But I think, more often, men just want to look as young as they feel.”
Liposuction, the third most popular surgical procedure among men, increased 23 percent over the past five years. Male breast reduction, which addresses gynecomastia (enlarged male breast tissue), increased about 30 percent and came in fourth place. The ASPS noted that these procedures, as well as other body contouring procedures, are popular among millennial men who wish to sculpt their physique when weight loss efforts fall short.
Top Male Cosmetic Non-Surgical Procedures
As with women, non-surgical procedures are popular among men who wish to tweak their appearance without going under the knife. More than 460,000 Botox procedures were performed on men in 2017 — a 400 percent increase from the beginning of the millennium! Laser hair removal came in a distant second, with over 184,000 procedures. Microdermabrasion, chemical peels and dermal fillers rounded out the top five.
