If you are a new mother investing a lot of time and money into exercise classes like CrossFit or Orange Theory, but aren’t seeing the body sculpting results you desire, you are not alone. Unfortunately, many mothers find that they are unable to return to their pre-baby body, even with a dedicated (and expensive!) exercise routine.

If exercise can’t help reverse the effects of pregnancy and breastfeeding, what can? Read on as Miami plastic surgeon Ary Krau discusses solutions.

Eliminate a Belly Pooch with Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, corrects stretched-out, lax-looking abdominal skin and excess fat that don’t respond to exercise. During the procedure, the abdominal muscles are also tightened to reduce the protrusion. The result is a flat, firm abdomen that looks youthful and healthy.

Reduce Unwanted Body Fat with Liposuction

Liposuction can be used to reduce exercise-resistant fat and improve the proportions of a specific area of the body. Common treatment areas include the hips, thighs, abdomen, buttocks, upper arms, knees, chin and neck. After liposuction, the treated area looks smaller, slimmer and more proportional.

Restore Saggy Breasts to a Youthful Position

No amount of exercise will improve the position of breasts that sag and droop after nursing. Breast lift can elevate saggy breasts and give them a more youthful position and orientation on the chest. The procedure can also correct oversized or downward-pointing nipples.

Augment Flat Breasts with Implants

Breasts that have lost their volume and shape after nursing can be enhanced with the placement of saline or silicone implants. Mothers can opt for a subtle boost in volume with small implants or a more noticeable transformation with larger implants. Round or teardrop-shaped implants are available for breast augmentation patients.

Combine these Procedures into a Mommy Makeover

Some mothers choose to combine some or all of the aforementioned procedures into a mommy makeover to improve their breast and body appearance. The selected combination depends on the specific problems to be addressed and the goals of treatment.

For example, your mommy makeover could include a tummy tuck and breast lift, or abdominal liposuction with the placement of implants. You could even opt to add non-surgical anti-aging treatments, such as Botox or filler injections, to eliminate signs of facial aging.

Keep in mind that before proceeding with plastic surgery, you should allow your body time to recover and stabilize after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Dr. Krau can discuss the specifics of timing your mommy makeover during a personal consultation.
